The cast of The Steve & Kathy Show is as diverse as it is talented. All volunteers, the cast draws from the best in the Kansas City metropolitan area. With backgrounds in TV, film, theater, commercials and even opera, these experienced actors are gifted, funny, artistic and clever - all essential traits of an award-winning show and cast.
Jeremy Wood, who appears in "The Movie Church With Elvis" and others, answers our questions about his experience and involvement on the show.
What's your background, experience in acting?
I really have no experience in acting prior to The Steve and Kathy Show. I co-hosted a sports radio talk show in Kansas City for 6 years, and that's pretty much it! I do my best to act like all of the other great actors on the show. Being surrounded by a TON of talent hopefully helps to hide my lack of experience.
Why are you on The Steve and Kathy Show?
There are several reasons: I wanted to bolster my own resume as far as voice over work, acting and writing goes, as well as just learn more about the world of video production, as that's what I do to pay the bills in real life! When you peel everything else away though, this show is a ministry to help people meet Jesus Christ, and if acting like a goofball or Elvis Presley will cause someone to check the show out a little closer -- which will invariably lead them to an introduction with Jesus -- then I'm all for it.
What skit have you enjoyed being in the most?
They've all been a lot of fun, but without a doubt the one that stands out to me was being able to portray Elvis Presley in "The Movie Church with Elvis". I'm a HUGE Elvis fan. I tell people all the time, "If Elvis didn't sing it, then I don't know it." Getting to dress in the full Elvis jumpsuit and even sing a few notes was quite a memory maker for me.
What's the best thing about The Steve & Kathy Show?
There are almost too many to mention -- the excitement of live tapings, meeting new people, making people laugh, getting a chance to be creative, working with people that are extremely talented and gifted at what they do, and on and on. Knowing that someone might see something you did, and through that they might come to know Christ is without question the best thing about the show. Who knows how many people will walk the streets of gold because of The Steve & Kathy Show?
What do most people not know about you?
Something they might be surprised to know -- especially being a part of a television show -- is that I'm extremely nervous being in front of crowds. I'm extremely aware of my lack of experience, especially when I'm around so many people that have been at the art of acting for so long. Hopefully it doesn't show too much, which would be why this little nugget of information would be a surprise!
